ONION BRULE’

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 Medium Onions (Yellow, Red and/or White)
  • 1 Cup White Wine
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Tsp. Salt

PREPARATION:

Slice the onions in half, against the grain and leaving the skins on. (The skins will ultimately end up being the serving bowl and will also help maintain the integrity of the onion while baking.) Place the eight onion halves in a roasting pan, cut side down. Add water, white wine, butter and salt to the roasting pan. Cover pan with foil and bake in a 350° oven for 50-minutes to 1-hour. Serve hot as an accompaniment with meat.
